After the fan favourite character Deadpool was butchered in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, comic books fans were clamoring for decent take on the character. Ryan Reynolds short role in that film as Wade Wilson, showed that he could pull off this character, especially since he was a fan himself. And when some CGI test footage of a possible Deadpool film was “leaked” (I’m still not 100% convinced its was unintentional). the overwhelmingly positive reaction gave fans of the Merc’ with a Mouth a new hope. Once the trailers started showing up and the frankly brillliant marketing started (posters marketing it as a Valentines Day film? Genius.) it finally looked like Deadpool would get a worthy representation on screen. So, did he? Yes, a thousand times yes.
Due to a slight technical cock up on my part, my blog entry on Alien has been lost to the ages. Never fear though, at some point I will put up a new one.
One thing I’ve noticed over the past few years is that there has been a distinct lack of good dinosaur films. With the exception of Jurassic World and Pixars animated film The Good Dinosaur, there hasn’t been a lot of films involving dinosaurs. You could argue that King Kong was a dinosaur film, but the dinosaurs weren’t the focus of the film. There was Land of The Lost back in 2009 as well, but that wasn’t a terribly good film. Back in the 60s and 70s, dinosaur themed films were all the rage with films like One Million Years B.C , When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth and The Land that Time Forgot. I firmly believe that dinosaur films need to make a comeback, so here are some other dinosaur related properties that would make for some really good films.
Marvel recently released the first full trailer for season two of their brilliant series Daredevil and it looks like its gonna be a cracking series. They’re introducing one of my favourite characters, the Punisher. Jon Bernthal (of Walking Dead fame) will be playing Frank Castle. the man who wages war on criminals after his family is killed in a mob crossfire. Rumour has it that he will be getting his own spin off series after very positive reactions to Bernthals portrayal of the character. If this is the case, I cannot wait to binge watch the whole series when it is released.
I’m going to enter spoiler territory in this review so if you haven’t seen this film yet, stop reading now…
