After entering production in 2009, going through numerous writers, directors and actors, the big screen adaptation of Stephen Kings classic novel IT finally reached screens this year.  I’ve been a big King fan ever since I first read The Dead Zone and IT is without a doubt one of my favorite books of all time. Obviously I’ve watched the 1990 miniseries with Tim Curry and his outstanding performance as Pennywise, the shape shifting, child eating monster who’s favorite appearance is a clown, but to be honest, his performance was pretty much the sole reason to watch it. So has director Andy Muschietti  finally made a worthy adaptation of IT? Yes. A thousand times yes. I’m going to go into spoiler territory for this review so if you want to go into the film knowing nothing stop reading now.

Review: Shin Godzilla

Shin Godzilla is the 31st film in the Godzilla series of films, and the 29th to be made by the Japanese film company Toho. After being released in Japan back in 2016, it finally got a limited release over here and I was lucky enough to catch a showing in my local cinema. Now, I’m a big fan of giant monster movies, particularly the Godzilla films. There’s just something so endearing about watching actors in rubber monster suits trampling model cities and beating the crap out of each other. I’m glad to say that Shin Godzilla is a great addition to the series, bringing a fresh take on a cinematic icon. Continue reading

“Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet.” These two lines from the opening crawl at the beginning of Star War: A New Hope back in 1977 form the basic plot of Rogue One, director Gareth Edwards entry to one of the biggest movie franchises in cinema history and the first of many planned spin-off films to come. This review is going to have some spoilers so stop reading if you want to avoid them. Continue reading
